Better racing through (sim)dentistry

Competitve online sim racing can produce some frustration - divebombs, "punt to pass", network lag collisions. Win or place at all costs. In our sim of choice, iRacing, it can feel like drivers are rewarded for good result (+IR), while there is limited incentive for safe racing - there are only 6 license classes. You don't even need need to maintain a high level license unless you drive certain series. The result is a lot of drivers who are fast, but not necessarily safe.

Rather than sacrifice SR for IR, the "sim dentists" of F499 prioritize safety and good racing hygiene. We want to be better racing drivers, not just drivers with large collections of "fake internet points". We strive to learn racecraft while treating our time on track as if we were really in the car. We choose SR as our metric.

We are not trying to get to 5k, 8k, 10k iRating. We are trying to get to A4.99.

We are not trying to win at all costs. We are trying to win with respect and good racing.

We are not trying to be the fastest drivers on the track. We are trying to be the best drivers on the track.

How can we have truly great racing if I'm the only one who cares if we finish?

-- Henri, "The BIG Problem iRacing Can't Fix."
